Tristram Korten has received an honorable mention in the Society of Environmental Journalists’ 2015-2016 Awards for Reporting on the Environment. The contest recognized Korten’s reporting on Florida’s “climate change ban.”

The contest judges wrote: “Strong sources, written correspondence and research of government records helped reveal a Florida governor’s attempt to wipe out official references to climate change. That reporting invited public scrutiny and moved state and federal officials to act.”

InsideClimate News took first place in the category, The Baltimore Sun second, and The Oregonian third. WFPL in Kentucky and The Oregonian received honorable mentions as well.

Korten’s reporting on Florida “climate change ban” has won a host of awards, including most recently the Waldo Proffitt Award for Excellence in Environmental Journalism in Florida.
